A pleasant surprise is coming as RANI GILIANA gives us one more SUPERIOR SELECTED gallery from BILSPORT PERFORMANCE AND CUSTOM (or in commoners own words ”ELMIA 2012”).

Swedish premier track/raceway MANTORP PARK had a really sharp display this year, throwing a bit of everything into the mix to show people they were down; but now are far from out.

Because if you didn’t know yet, our countries most recognized and always ”first that comes to mind” when it comes to either dragracing, track days and festivals- went bankrupt this winter.

It quickly found new owners in publishing company FABAS that among many magazines publish the biggest automotive enthusiast magazine called BILSPORT.

This is on paper a perfect fit, since many of the big events like Gatebil Sweden, Action Meet and more have been organized by said organization for many years.

It was only logical then, and we hope they will bring new life not just to the track itself; but give the whole scene a vital injection…

Judging by the cars they had handpicked for their stall, they have the right feeling on whats hot right now. Johan ”Hollywood” Halvarsson and his Kermit green S15 2JZ-GTE drift car was a bit early from its livery of the season.

So we give you the pleasure of his recently released promo-video to show you how it looks right now, the man with the manly mustache will surely head into the season as someone that can snatch a Top 5 finish in any event he participates in…

Two really sharp E30 BMW’s also proudly took a lot of space in the stall, where one of them belongs to a very likable guy named Rickard Ivars.

His builds  on various ”Bimmer-chassises” have always resulted in the same thing; dreadfully fast in the 1/4mile!

This might have the look of an ordinary tuned car, but under there lurks 1020 RWHP ready to thunder down the quarter mile in under 9 seconds…!

Rouding things off was this amazing US-build, with a properly sized Supercharger not too violently hidden…

Hats off to the organizers, and RANI (CLICK FOR HIS FB FANPAGE!) did an awesome job shooting it.

We have been more then pleased with what we’ve produced from ELMIA 2012 EXPO in the photography aspect of covering it. Wouldn’t mind feedback from our readers about what you think?

As a new spice to the Superior-blog which is hideously slow these days due to so much behind the scenes work, we add our friend in Japan Seiji Ishikawa @ REVOLT-IS as a partner.

He frequently visits different meets in Japan as well as tuners directly, and continues to share his adventures with us.

To really put things in the limelight they deserve, we let our own SUPERIOR SELECTED pro Martin ”BILBILDER.SE” Persson give all his pics a little ”brush” to get the final presentation quality that they deserve!

This means we have something genuine JDM for our followers to bit on from time to time. And we will continuously post previews at OUR FACEBOOK before getting the whole gallery here in the Blog.

We are as mentioned in some major overhauls when it comes to the blog and media, so just enjoy it and continue to give us feedback and we’ll reward it many times over!

There is no denial that the JDM Pro-drifters have builds in a class of their own, and you get astonished by every little participant. This years field looks sharper then ever, with the introduction of the new FT86 from Toyota/Subaru really making an impact on the series.

We at Superior are proud to say that quality over quantity is something we are able to live up to on many occasions, and this some Stance/Lifestyle community OIJ OIJ SOCIETY truly made our job easy to maintain that principle.

They had two head and shoulders above the best stand (ever?) at the expo, and can be very proud of themselves for the result.

Something worth to also credit, is that the organizers of the expo = BILSPORT MAGAZINE finally gave a growing trend a shot at glory and look what happened:

We hope this is a breakthrough, and they will continue to hand out confidence in creative & driven groups to create stand-out things like these on Scandinavias by far biggest and most historic auto expo!

When a guy has over 30 car builds in his trunk, ranging from every kind of car culture possible- you know something epic will happen more often then not every time a new project is started by that very same person.

Our own co-host SIR_PIERRE can tell after many years admiring; and pondering to buy some of Roland ”DubRolle” Zetterström builds the past couple of years- that he is the real deal.

Anyway, this year he did so well that he is without further ado, our Superior choice of ELMIA 2012 EXPO with this ”bastard” Toyota KE70:

Its hard to know where to start trying to describe this old school beast that is more stuffed with different trends then you can probably count. The easiest way to brand it is… fun!

”DubRolle” said plenty of memorable things when we interviewed him about it, and on top of the list a quote like ”I was hoping to build more of it in carbon/kevlar, so it would be easy for tire explosions that ripped through the bodywork”. And the big bits of this precious (and very strong) material is definitely a good starting point to talk about:

Its something thats usually found on hardcore race cars, and the same can be said about the 36 metres of material roll cage that ”Rolle” has custom built = its not built to just shock and impress fanboys- its built to be used as well:

We were already from our first meeting trying to persuade him to hit up either a TIME ATTACK EVENT or possible one of the Swedish drift meets to prove his point. And I don’t think he was kidding when he said he would definitely do it.

One of the keys for it to finally run properly and without being scared of wrecking it; was the engine. Which also deserves a bit of extra attention as its not what you’d expect from such a hardcore JDM build:

”Is it a 1JZ-GTE?” or maybe something cool and odd like a turbo converted old AE90 engine to keep things strictly JDM… But you will be disappointed if you are a purist.

In fact, its one of the most common engines you can find on Swedish road, a 5 cylinder Turbo from a Volvo V70R!

Its been a bit modified with a larger turbine, better camshaft and general ”boost up” modifications. But talks are leading towards a more serious 450HP engine build which most skilled Swedes can do in their sleep with this trusted platform…

If you are not obsessed with these details, you will forgive the ”non-JDM” engine and look closer at everything else that will make even the most diehard fundamentalist twitch. Such as the front lights, exclusive for the Japanese Domestic Market.

Rolle kept his crosshair to the far east, and even incorporated some mainstream yet still not entirely cleared significant details such as the ”Idlers” markings on the tires:

They truly earn their place as the founding father of Rauh Welt, ”Nakai-San” would probably gladly accept ”Rolle” into the club circuit freaks in his clientele are a part of (Idlers).

The Compomotive wheels also do their best testing the eye of the beholder if they are old and plain or just fit the build perfectly.

To sum this up and end things with a bit of a motivation to why this ”Cocktail of car culture” freak of a build caught our eye and also persuaded our photographers RANI GILIANA and MARTIN PERSSON- I think all you need to do is re-read the text and understand there is (once again) not an advance reason.

We just… like our stuff mixed! Like people using their imagination, well beyond the ”set rules” some far more boring car builders waste yours and our time with!

To visit the BILSPORT PERFORMANCE AND CUSTOM MOTOR SHOW means you will get a sample of every possible dish out there within automotive culture. ELMIA 2012 was no exception, and we’ve had some big surprises on our TEN OF THE BEST list thats reaching its end quickly now.

Today we bring you another BIG slice of ”different” and our two SUPERIOR SELECTED photographers RANI GILIANA and MARTIN PERSSON fell head over heels over this one:

This is ”The Juxtapod” and is as much a piece of art as it is a Hot Rod build. In fact, when you browse through the creators HOMEPAGE (CLICK!) you get a feeling its more of the first then latter.

Besides a color that literally sucks you into watching it like the beautiful White Queen from Alice in Wonderland does; it also presents the unique (?) combination of handmade crystal to car building:

I think the definition of artwork and machine is once again more defined towards the first, as it would hurt my aesthetic heart to ever see the engine started up and let these crystal velocity stacks get dirty.

Besides the use of that we also see warm tones of wood coming back reccuringly, everything done at almost ridiculous finish:

We have to be honest and confess Hot Rods as this one is way out of our comfort zone, but our research tells us this is a beautiful bastard of different decades in automotive- with a bit heavier influence from the 60′s.

The chassis itself would be fair to say is a Ford Model AA 1928, and the thing that (was supposed) runs this is a Chevy 348 engine and 350 Gearbox.

Mattias LeBeef Andersson as the builder is exotically named, has together with Ludvif Löfgren built something truly unique; that no cliché can honestly explain.

For the first time in this TEN OF THE BEST series I feel we don’t have enough pictures to do The Juxtapod justice. But hopefully you will FOLLOW THEIR BLOG to get to know it more…

Tomorrow its time to pick our SUPERIOR CHOICE from the ELMIA 2012 EXPO, and if you have been following THE LIST you know its bound to be something very exciting.

First things first. We are reaching the end of our TEN OF THE BEST list from the BILSPORT ELMIA 2012 EXPO, and we need to thank the two guys who have provided all the cutting edge pics for the series once again.

How to do that you ask? Well, just venture into RANI GILIANAS and MARTIN ”BILBILDER.SE” PERSSONS own Facebook pages and just click ”Like”.

Simple enough ey?

Whats not as simple to give a thorough review, is Albin Asks Honda S2000. But here we go to try and give it some justice in a few pictures and text:

This car was standing with the guys representing CLUB-JDM SWEDEN in the A-hall, and I feel embarrassed to admit I only gave it a few quick looks while rushing to the bathroom nearby a few times at the beginning of the weekend.

Fortunately though, both Rani and Martin catched it very early, and had plenty of time to shoot these a tad bit mysterious but delicious pics to let me know I had to take a closer look:

During the round-up of all the awesome cars we’ve had, this car went from a sleeper on the list; to crashing into the Top 3 in the end- much to the merit of how photogenic it was.

You can’t deny that even if you are not a big fan of chocolate brown metallic paint its still one hell of a grateful color to photograph!

Something that also makes it stand out once you admire these pics, is the bodywork. Albin explained during an interview (will be posted later tonight) that when he got the car, it looked like ”the fenders had gotten widened using a steel pipe” or something.

Now, after he went through them personally and added custom over fenders, its a whole different story:

Combining that with flawless and perfect stance on those wheels, we got ourselves the winner that deserves to be placed this high on this list.

But there is more. Authentic JDM-parts tend to give you a certain swagger that no replica parts can do:

The Powerhouse Amuse front bumper is one thing, hiding that big Intercooler quite casually; because this car is not afraid to admit its boosted.

Under the bonnet we find a full turbo-conversion with a Garrett 30/71R turbine that is capable of feeding air well above 400+HP!

Albin told us that soon after the expo, the mapping will be done and it will definitely have more then enough power to embarrass most cars not only in style- but in performance as well.

(I know those seats have most of you already hooked!)

We would like to thank everybody who has shown appreciation for the TEN OF THE BEST series from ELMIA 2012.

The runner-up and ”Superior choice” of the entire expo will be up soon, we are thrilled to finally show you who we picked…!

The TEN OF THE BEST series is a classic ”Top 10″ list, but without formal rules. I state this, because this pick might surprise most of you car enthusiasts out there. #4  is all about subtleness.

Owner Markus Karlsson has had a history of sweet BMW builds before, and now he puts his paws on a pretty much brand new base in a BMW 5-series F10:

The fact he started on something as new as this is very uncommon in Sweden. We see it all the time in the big US of A, where its basically a big ”bragging race” to do a ”tune” of a as new car/model as possible. Not so much here.

While again its no guideline for us either, the SELECTED PHOTOGRAPHERS Rani Giliana and Martin Persson got very attached by the above fact. Maybe its because they were among the lucky who saw a ”real” BMW M5 F10 when they covered THE FRANKFURT IAA 2011…?

The resemblance to the Münich top-model is impossible to miss, and a pack of ”M-sports” parts make this car what it is- not to mention the 21″ ADV 1 5 2 TS wheels that crown Markus car:

They are only temporary though, as 22″ Iforged CHA2 beauties are coming. Makes you wonder how us ”mere mortals” and boring people can go on with normal sizes like 18″…?

Again, this car will represent what less is more means and how much tasteful mods can equate to an awesome result as well.

We will happily accept if people think this car is too subtle, at least enjoy the pics and we promise more ”fireworks” in the Top 3- Markus Karlssons BMW is for all those purists out there!

We don’t do fancy and ”hipstermatic” intros for our SUPERIOR SELECTED ”Ten of the best” lists, we just friggin do them.

But for this car there could be an endless amount of flamboyant intros and explanations for why we included it as one of our favorite cars on ELMIA 2012 EXPO. But…

Lets just say there were 250 reasons to pick this car over a bunch of other really fantastic builds:

Yes! That is 250kg of Marshmallows ”dressing up” the car on the ground! And as you can imagine, the owner Jani Lemberg having quite a few ”WTF’s” when he placed the order for all that candy.

But never mind that, as gimmicks is not what sold us in on this car. So what did, its as far from a rough drift or Time Attack car you can come- and lacks all the ultra-modern cool of something from the Hellaflush scene.

The simple reason this joker is on our list is photogenic ability and natural charisma! 

I can’t give any scientific explanation much as I can’t deliver more of the hip clichés, but I will say that if this car does not make you smile- you need to check if you have warm blood flowing through your heart- or maybe you need to find where it was you lost that childish enthusiasm along the way of becoming a stiff grown-up!

Our two SELECTED PHOTOGRAPHERS guilty for these yummy pics had nothing different to say then the above to why they ranked this odd Nissan so high in the rankings.

”Simply damn cool” said RANI GILIANA, and collaborating support photographer MARTIN PERSSON had a sick grin on his face as he said ”this is the joker of the bunch” when presenting me their picks. Fair enough!

We wish we could tell you more about the builder of this car, from the short research done online its hard to get a grasp of earlier builds etc. It is equally flattering as it is puzzling when in all honesty, a 14 year old girl could have done the outlining of this project?!

We appreciate the tender break from everything serious though, and hope you enjoy this car as well.

Want to pick one enthusiast and his build to represent what the Swedish Hellaflush scene is with one swipe?

Look no further then Marcus Eisenhuts Honda Integra that for this season is nearing full marks in all areas within this culture of car tuning.

He was already leading the pack of US-trends here in Sweden, and has for this season put extra effort into the engine bay especially- so it was definitely the thing to focus on for our SELECTED PHOTOGRAPHERS shooting this ”Ten of the best” series from the ELMIA 2012 EXPO:

The car itself is mildly improved from last season, but we don’t consider that since its officially out in this expo representing how far along the ”Stance-scene” has come in just ~365 full days from last years expo.

Our two ace photographers RANI GILIANA and MARTIN PERSSON doing this series exclusively, seem to enjoy shooting this car- and its easy to get satisfying results with some privacy and extra flashes on it:

We also had time to let our Superior-TV co-host SIR PIERRE do a short interview with the man himself, explaining that it seems like things are going pretty well for the ”Stance scene” when even the countries biggest expo dares to invest in it.

Marcus car was just one of many very impressive ”Stance builds” and we shot a big feature of it that displayed what an awesome presence the OIJ OIJ SOCIETY guys had- by far the best stall of the ELMIA 2012 EXPO!

This years PERFORMANCE AND CUSTOM MOTORSHOW celebrated esteemed automotive magazine BILSPORT 50 year anniversary. 

For that occasion they had an entire hall dedicated to different cars that had been published over the years, and this Mopar beast was what attracted our SUPERIOR SELECTED Photographers the most:

This is Peter Holmerts Dodge Challenger that has gone the full ”Pro Mod” route, meaning it has a much more modern engine, drivetrain and interior.

Say what you want about old US-muscle builds, but its very hard to argue a build like this hitting our list. Its just something that makes the current re-released Challenger quite ugly looking…

We’d like to thank BILSPORT for giving us the opportunity of providing you this series and many other things from the expo, and in the same sentence mention Johan Eriksson who writes for them- and show our appreciation for their continuous support.

Most of the builds on our SUPERIOR SELECTED ”Ten of the best” list have one thing in common: Build quality, and that they all seem planned out.

Richard Klarby is already considered to be one of Swedens best car painters. His work on Cim Nilssons Toyota Supra in matte orange was a big crowd pleaser last year. So now he decided to trumf it with his VW Golf R:

This Ferrari silver painted beauty rests comfortable on Rotiform wheels and just gives you that feeling that time stands still when you observe the car, trying to find something which is not done to perfection.

Our two SELECTED PHOTOGRAPHERS fancy work with the extra flashes comes at a climax here, capturing the shade of the paint to a 100%:

Rumors have it that Richard has now sold his business, but we can’t expect such a talented guy to stand in one place for too long. This Golf has been rebuilt several times, so maybe its time for  a change and new project.

We can only hope, as quality builds like these are exactly why we created SUPERIOR SELECTED and guys like RANI GILIANA and MARTIN PERSSON shoots these cars.

The ”Ten of the best” list from the PERFORMANCE AND CUSTOM MOTORSHOW 2012 goes on, and today we have a damn outright charming car that our SELECTED PHOTOGRAPHERS got stuck on, a 1932 year Ford 5-window Coupé with a matching caravan!

Our two boys with immense photo skills, Rani ”RANISFOTO.SE” Giliana with support by Martin ”BILBILDER.SE” Persson picked this as a bit of a surprise from the rest of the bunch, but the color, genuine look and as usual with US-custom builds finish of the car; made it qualify on the list:

We admit this is a step outside our own comfort zone, and encourage our readers to educate us more on what it really is we are looking at.

All we can say is, that as already mentioned; the amount of hours and meticulous work the US-customs car builders put in their projects is second to none. Needless to say, the bright yellow flawless paint wins us over anyway…

For for this Saab 9-3 sportwagon aka ”SWIPER” we wont need to, as this is the definition of awesomeness and insane (streetable) builds:

Oh yeah, you still dont get why this is #10 on the list despite it being a damn nice Saab with some premium work done to it…?

Lets show you exactly why we couldn’t resist bringing this Sleeper-beast into the mix:

Yes, that is a Dodge Viper V10 engine tucked into the car, although it still looks like its not entirely ready to drive. Just for fun, we are including a small clip from when the naked Viper-chassis was driveable:

I have no doubt though that Wargia AB who have done many insane build before, will get this ready for the season. So we congratulate them and owner ”Zacco-Pelle” for making the list!

Juli – SCS Trackday & Time Attack @ Kinnekulle Ring

En liten banträff för de med JDM bilar i Sverige. Körningen är för allt ifrån nybörjare till att under eftermiddagen hålla ett redigt Time Attack för de allra snabbaste bilar, det anordnas även ett JDM Face-off där snabbaste klubbarna i Japan-Sverige möter varandra.

Jag hade min egen bil med mig denna gång för att själv så köra några varv. Det skulle bli första gången ut med Imprezan och andra gången ut på bana i förarstolen för mig. Det blev en hel del varv på bana varvat med filmning från sidan av.

Även om det filmades under denna träff så har det inte blivit någon film än. Det fanns helt enkelt ingen tid till det. Filmen från Gatebil @ Mantorp Park va inte färdig än och när den va färdig så va det nya filmer som prioriterades före denna.

En riktigt kul dag som avslutades på ett underbart sätt med några av de närmaste i Superior.

Grymt välsmakande middag på Forshems Gästgiverigård. Menyn bestod bl.a av smörstekt abborre, tjälknöl av älg och ramslökssoppa. Allt va otroligt gott.

6 Augusti Action Meet @ Mantorp Park:

Som ni märker så va det en hel del evenemang under sommaren. Detta årets Action Meet lockade lite mer än förra året. Det skulle nämligen köras en PRO-INT Drifting tävling.

Väl på plats så börjades dagens filmning borta vid dragracingen. Va där borta under första rundan och försökte få med det mest intressanta. Efter det så gick ja bort till driftingen.

Tyvärr så va denna tävling inte jätte bra organiserad så bra så det blev en hel del uppehåll så kort efter jag kommit bort till driftingen så blev det ett långt uppehåll så gick jag där ifrån för å ta en paus. Det behövdes då det va varmt å soligt denna dag.

Driftingen kom tillslut i gång och de kördes ganska så friskt. De som utmärkte sig mest va en norrman vid namn Kenneth Moen och en finne vid namn Juha Pöytälaasko. Inte konstigt att de knep första och andra plats kanske?

Det pågick ju även en utställning denna dagen. Inget jag är så speciellt intresserad av men va tvungen att filma det lite också ju. Fanns ju faktiskt några bilar som va väl värda att se.

Efter detta evenemang så va ja inne på min sista semestervecka så jag la ca 10h per dag för att få klart filmen. Va ett jävla slit men resultatet tycker jag blev bra..

20-21 Augusti Autoropa Trackday på Ring Knutstorp & Vallåkraträffen + SCS Trackday & Time Attack på Mantorp Park:

En fullspäckad helg med hela tre stycken evenemang. Allt från bilar värda miljoner smiskandes runt banan till hemmabyggen på utsällning till Sverige snabbaste JDM bilar på Mantorp Park. Allt detta blev för mycket för mig. Aldrig mer fler än ett evenemang per helg.

Autoropas träff på Ring Knutstorp va riktigt trevlig. Trevligt folk och massor mer Ferrari bilar bla. en 599XX som vi fick sätta kameror på. Dock lät den så sjukt högt så mikrofonen flippade =). Träffade även på Växjös egna lilla racing legend Stefan ”Lill-Lövis” Johansson. Han va bl.a där och skjutsade runt folk på banan. Helt ok sysselsättning =).

Det gick sådär med filmandet, tyvärr blåste det en hel del så ljudet blev inte alls så bra, tror även de höga tonerna från Ferrari bilarnas motorer gjorde sitt.

Vi kunde tyvärr inte stanna så länge som vi hade velat utan va tvungna att dra vidare till Vallåkraträffen. Väl där så känner vi oss lite slappa och trötta eller va man ska säga. Klivet från Ferrari bilar för miljoner till byggena på Vallåkra va ganska så stort om man säger så =).

Vi monterade go pro kamerorna fram på pierres lexus och körde igenom hela området ett tag. Stannade folk på vägen för att ställa lite korta frågor om va de tycker om Vallåkraträffen. Vi parkerade bilen och gick sen en runda för att filma lite mer seriöst.

Well träffen gick till enda och kvällen fortsatte med middag hemma hos Henrik som är gurun bakom Major Aero prylarna. God grillad mtd stod på menyn. Välbehövligt efter en lång dag.

Jag och Pierre drog sedan in till Helsingborg för att kolla kvällsaktiviteterna men de kändes som vi va lite sena och allt roligt va över. Så ja packade ihop och drog hem till Växjö för att få några timmars sömn inför morgondagen.

Söndag och SCS Trackday & Time Attack på Mantorp Park:

Går upp tidigt och beger mig iväg i Imprezan. Tog Imprezan upp för på plats skulle Martin ” Bilbilder.se” ta ett gäng foton på den.

Vädret va mulet men inte kallt, vilket va kanon för mig som fotograf. Mulet = jämt å mjukt ljus överallt. Det va bara att slänga upp kameran och börja filma när alla förberedde sig för körning.

Körningen rullade igång och en mäng riktigt fina och snabba JDM bilar vrålade runt på banan. Vissa gick det mindre bra för. T.ex när Dan från Superior Syd verkstaden va ute å körde med hans sambo Anushas MX6a så gick motorn åt helvete i slutet av långa rakan.

Det va inte det enda haveriet under dagen utan Lasse från JRM sköt packboxen mellan motor och låda vilket resulterade i ännu mer sanering. En som va rätt nära ett möjligt haveri va Martin ”Gzon” Gustavsson i sin Skyline R43 GTR V-Spec. Som ni ser på bilden nedan så ryker den lite väl mycket för att vara kry =).

Filmande rullade på någorlunda bra, men mot slutet av dagen så fanns det ingen inspiration och kraft kvar. Jag va helt slut och ville bara hem och sova.

Vädret, som framåt lunch blev riktigt fint, molnen skingrade sig och solen kom fram vilket resulterade i att det blev väldigt varmt, och det faktum att jag hade hållit igång hela lördagen också tog ut sin rätt . Och som ni alla vet så finns det inte mycket till skugga på Mantorp Park som man kan gömma sig i.

Fast när dagen nästan va slut så piggnade jag till rätt mycket. Magnus Jinstrand va på plats med sin groteskt feta Cobra V12!!Han va på plats för Martin ”Bilbilder” skulle fota den och vi passade även på att sätta på gopro kamerorna på bilen och släppa ut han på banan i ett par varv. Jag blev den lycklige som fick åka med =).

Han sa att vi skulle smyga runt lite stilla för kopplingen va dålig och vi hade inga hjälpar. Men kallar han det smyga så vet ja inte hur han kör när han ger fullt. För jävlar va den bilen går!!!!! Ljudet från den där kompressormatade Mercedes V12 med rakarör är porr!

Det va en fin avslutning på säsongens banevenemang. Endast en träff för oss i Superior gänget kvar.

8 Oktober Superior Meet:

En träff med god mat och fina bilar vid Superior Workshop i Katrineholm för oss i Superior familjen.

Jag körde tidigt hemifrån, självklart med Imprezan. Solen va precis på väg upp över träden och disen låg tät på vissa ställen. En bit efter Vrigstad så va ja bara tvungen att stanna och ta några bilder på bilen.

Väl framme i Katrineholm så va jag först på plats, ingen annan syntes till så det vara bara att vänta. Vädret hade blivit sämre, hösten hade kommit till Katrineholm och det va kallt och blåsigt.

Dagens uppdrag blev bl.a att filma en burnout tävling och Mickes nyinköpta Skyline DR30 RS-Turbo.

Tiden sprang iväg fort och vi packade ihop och några tappra själar drog vidare till Södertälje för en sushi middag på Mickes favorit resutrang, (tror ja iaf =)) Resturang Minako.

Efter vi fyllt våra magar igen så va det dags att dra hemåt, 38mil framför sig innan man va hemma. Hade dock sällskap av Dan och Anusha så jag slapp köra helt själv hem.

Detta blev en helt ok avslutning på en riktigt kul och fullspäckad säsong med många minnen. Men om jag inte har fel så tror jag att 2012 kommer bli ännu bättre .

Under 2011 har vi på Vimeo haft 187000 spelningar och på Youtube har vi har 170000 spelningar. Det tycker jag är helt ok för oss som är så nya på detta och bor i lilla Sverige

Vill tacka alla personen som hjälpt till med filmerna under året , framförallt min sambo Helena som har fått bl.a. hjälpt till att bära grejor runt på banorna men även fått stå ut med den mängd timmar jag lagt framför datorn för att redigera.

Vill även tacka alla som har hjälpt till att dela våra filmer runt om på internet. Utan er hade vi inte nått ut till så många som vi gjort!

20/8 Ferrari Racing days, Ring Knutstorp:

The Superior Media Madness Motor Events Weekend (S.M.M.M.E.W, yes I just made it up). Three events in two days in two different parts of sweden. We made it!

We kicked the weekend off with Ferrari/Maserati Racing days at Ring Knutstorp. This 599 XX was probably the most insane engine sound this year, incredible and insanely loud! I think there will be a clip of this sooner on the Superior Blog…

21/8 JDM Faceoff Mantorp Park+Sessions:

Second JDM Faceoff this year. The whole team was rather lazy this day after the early morning/long drive. It was a long and warm day but I managed to do 4 minisession apart from coverage from the track while we were there.

28/8 Aston Martin DB9 Volante:

Another loaner. This time for driving my newly wed friends in the backseat. Quick snapshot before returning it to the owner. The DBS is a much better drive in my opinion, I don’t like the bodyroll of the cabriolet.

1/9 Ferrari 430 F1

Dejan Sokolovski was in town and we decided to try to do a little shoot. I made a phonecall and picked up this beutiful white 430.

15-17/9 Frankfurt IAA:

If you told me in the beginning of the year that I was going to be on Frankfurt IAA with Superior Media I probably wouldn’t believe it, but that was the case. Its a interesting journey to see where the photography takes me next. To me there was 3 cars that I could take home and put in my garage straight away and it was these three. The Lambo stand was quite memorable to, Viva Italia!

October – Banzai 240Z:

The car I shot during the Stance Nation meet hit the stands as a cover on Banzai magazine. JDM build of the year if you ask me.

1/10 BMW 1M:

My friend got his new car after a long wait, we did a quick shoot of it before Frankfurt, but decided to give it a new go when fall came. I’m really happy with the outcome of this shot, I think its probably whats closest to wait I aim for in my pictures. It was also permiere for my new logo.

2/10 Range Rover Evoque:

My friend Fabian at the local Land Rover/Jaguar dealership gave me a call because he had this car home for the weekend. I was pumped with inspiration after the shoot of the 1M the day before and was really satisfied this time also.

22/10 Nissan Skyline DR30 RS Turbo:

Micke from Superior Imports did his tour in south of Sweden with his newest demo-car a olden goldie Skyline. It was a good day of shooting and a great night out. Unfortunately this is the only picture I can show you, for reasons I can’t tell you. Super secret!

13/11Range Rover Evoque:

An early morning with Fabian again. This time with a Evoque Coupe in my favorite color! We visited Malmö, basically because its a bigger town with nicer urban locations to contrast with the grey Evoque in the forest. After we were done we went by Lexus to check out the LFA passing by on a tour through Sweden.

10/12 XKRS+XFR:

Me and Fabian planned one more session to make this year go out with a boom. I’ve never made a session so late in december before, because we usually have a lot of snow by then. Fabian didn’t think it was enough with a 550 hp blue bomb in december, so he suggested we’d take it on a trip to Copenhagen.

Since I’ve been thinking about this but not doing it the last few years it was another nobrainer.. And as if that wasn’t enough, we threw in a red XFR aswell. The rest of the result, well check it out here:

So that sums up my year of ” Lots of Supercars, Events and some JDM”. I don’t think I left anything out besides a few weekend joyrides (R8, ZR-1, 997TT) that I rather drove then shoot..

Really looking forward to let the camera rest for a couple of months to regain inspiration and then come back with full power during spring. Who knows what next year has to offer?!

Its been a different kind of ”busy as hell” ever since we struck 2012, but now its time for some unfinished business where the core of the team get their honorable mention.

Today we are closing the year for Hjalmar Van Hoek who himself has a lot of new things to think about in the coming future. Just after the new year he got the great news that he is to become a father; and we congratulate and wish him the best with that. A big part of life indeed!

GATEBIL 2011 (CLICK!):

In June it was time for Gatebil @ Mantorp Park. Unfortunately I wasn’t able to stay the whole weekend but I still had a great time out, photographing and filming a lot. I Can edit that I never have filmed before so if you see some shots passing by in the Gatebil movie that are bouncing, you can blame me and my filming skills.

It was also the first time for me to be out on the track and doing some photographing. Can’t say much about it but nothing beats photographing in the middle of a circuit while you’re being surrounded by flaming and smoking cars. The sound is just mind taking!

Skyline R34 GT-R Photoshoot:

As I wrote earlier a friend of mine visiting the Wanganmeet does own a JDM car. In fact, he owns one off my personal dream cars, a Nissan Skyline R34 GT-R. I got some new gear for 2011 to get better use of my flashes so here are some of the photos taken for him. They helped a lot but there’s still quite some time in Photoshop behind every photo.

Last but not least I shot some photos for Micke himself. As you all know he bought a Nissan Skyline DR30 from the stone age, sorry Micke just had to mention it But it really has the old school look and can’t say I don’t like it. However I can’t show you too much but this photo has been uploaded a while back. The rest of the set will be up very soon!

He is another personally gratifying success within the team; Rani ”RANISFOTO.SE” Giliana. His story of the year is another by appearance ”sugar-coated” one where loyalty and dedication pays off big time.

Since he is not a big talker, instead being a performer where his work does all the representation of his brand- he has left it to giving us some mixed galleries with brief comments to each. I will personally add my facts but still keeping it more about the pics more then anything!

As always, this is about giving the individuals that bring us quality media to us in first place. From here we really hope you will visit their personal sites, and Rani has his new FB-PAGE called RANI GILIANA AUTOMOTIVE (CLICK!) setup just recently; so go give your quick judgement and hopefully you will ”Like” it!

Rani jumped aboard the ship as one of the first handpicked guys ahead of the ELMIA 2011 EXPO, and was given a monumentally important task of being part of the core. Actually following us around 24/7 (which turned into something literal).

He really made a great first impression not just with the pics, but actually going through the whole mega-intense and sleepless weekend without any whining tendencies:

You can find a lot of the galleries Rani did at this expo HERE, he was flying around the place and truly provided that flexibility that we needed in our rookie debut covering an event in a qualitative way like this.

I can honestly laugh about a lot of the stuff we did here with limited resources, and pretty sure it will be a memory for life…

Next up there were some other shoots and events (you can find everything in the SUPERIOR SELECTED category in the blog), but Rani likes to focus on the blockbuster event of the year for arguably most of us: GATEBIL MANTORP 2011:

Not surprisingly, he also fell hopelessly in love with the Lamborghini stand which we returned to again, and again & again over the two days we attended the press days here.

We learnt many valuable lessons here and looking through the almost tiring amount of quality media (CHECK HERE!) produced, getting this far in the automotive media industry told us in the most brutal way; that we must be much more strategic for the upcoming season if we are to surpass the next level.

Final piece Rani chose for this post is the amount of sessions and SELECTED FEATURES he also did over the summer and finally on our very own SUPERIOR MEET 2011.

Already haven been given a lot of praise, its also none the less important to mention that these shoots; and getting photos for several of our CARS FOR SALE were top notch.

The thing that kickstarted this whole ”we can give the scene and our family/fans the media they deserve” was when I met David Johansson and he explained that apart from photographs, he could also make simple videoclips.

Fully in tune with our premium JDM-sportscars FOR SALE, I thought it was a good idea that each one got its own video- and David delivered those with huge success. Then, truth to be told- I ”sold” his services combined with a newly purchased GoPro camera from our friends RAIDOPOWER to cover the GATEBIL 2010 event; not even knowing if he could do such type of films…

And thats how the adventure started, David delivered and the movie made a lot of people wonder ”where the hell did that come from”? After that its been a long journey and hard work, as everything is done with funding from no special expense account other then far-fetched marketing- and at Davids (and my own as a supporting act) own free time.

So jumping into ELMIA 2011 and spending a hefty sum of money more to make it an even more serious commitment… thats a gamble. A gamble that paid of in spades as I have to believe none of the talented individuals who have joined theSUPERIOR SELECTED team would have done it without our (brief) background in videos.

Thank god for simply believing in someones talent, and then seeing the real domino effect from it!

I bring you the quiet man from the forrest-laden southeast parts of Swedens own words, letting us know how he dedicated hundreds of hours to entertain each one of us for a few minutes at a time; feels about the passing 2011 season:

Resumé 2011:

Jag fick i uppdrag av Micke att skriva om hur jag minns säsongen 2011. Skriva sånt här är inte min starkaste sidan men ska göra det bästa jag kan för att ge er min syn från mitt perspektiv på säsongen som varit.

Inför 2011 så hade vi gjort viktiga inköp gällande kamera utrustning för att underlätta arbetets gång och få bättre kvalité på både bild och ljud. Ny kamera, mikrofoner och ljudinspelare är några av sakerna som stod med på listan. Inför säsongen så byggde jag även en egen glidetrack och shoulder rig vilket visade sig vara ett riktigt bra val. Har haft mycket hjälp av båda sakerna.

22-25 April – Bilsport Custom & Performance Show:

Bilsport Custom & Performance Show i Jönköping, starten av vad som skulle bli den mest fullspäckade och fartfyllda säsongen hittills för Superior Media. Det blev fyra riktigt roliga och slitsamma dagar med ett gött superior gäng på plats.

(Editors comment: I doubt anyone slept more then 3 hours per night this weekend, it was crazy!)

Vi hade byggt upp våran egen lilla tv-studio där vi spelade in lite olika intervjuer osv sen hade jag min egen lilla hörna där jag hade datorn så ja kunde sitta å redigera på plats för att få ut så många filmer så snabbt som möjligt.

Det blev en hel del material från Bilsport Custom & Performance Show så redigering av det materialet upptog större delen av tiden de följande veckorna efter mässan. Och i dagens läge så finns det fortfarande material som inte blivit redigerat.

Den film som fått flest visningar är den feature som jag gjorde på Christoffer Geiros Audi A4 – 27936 visningar i skrivande stund.

28 Maj Wangan Meet III:

Efter Bilsport Custom & Performance Show så va det dags för Wangan Meet III i Helsingborg, eller mer exakt Hyllinge som ligger strax utanför Helsingborg. Just denna dagen så va vädret inte helt på vår sida, de va kallt och det blåste. Och på detta så va inspirationen för att filma inte på topp. Men jag gjorde mitt bästa för att få med så mycket som möjligt.

Det blev inte heller bättre av att det började regna och träffen avslutades och ”Karavanen” genom Helsingborg inleddes. Karavan vet ja inte om man kan kalla det, de va mer kaos. Men iaf, jag lyckades knåpa ihop en liten kort film från träffen som faktiskt har fått hela 20600 visningar vilket gör den till den tredje mest spelade av våra filmer på vimeo.

4 Juni Realcars träff i Vinångåker:

Denna helg började inte bra. Punktering 20 mil hemmifrån och fortfarande 25mil kvar till Södertälje där vi skulle sova hos Micke. Vi försökte leta reda på ett nytt däck men det gick inget vidare. Inte lättaste att få tag på ett 195/45 R15 hos en däckhandlare. Så vi fick fortsätta linka fram på reservhjulet. I Vingåker så stod solen i topp och det va riktigt varmt. Helena fick gå runt med ett paraply över mig för jag inte skulle få solsting =).

Fick ihop lite material iaf och fick en trailer släppt, sen fanns det inte tid till mer för då va det dags för nästa evenemang.

17-19 Juni – Gatebil @ Mantorp Park:

Minnena från förra året sitter friskt i minnet och förväntningarna va höga inför detta evenemang som måste vara det bästa i Sverige. Stämningen är på topp, banan är fylld med brutala bilar som vars förare bara har ett läge, och det är fullt ös. Banan är nästintill fylld med däckrök hela dagen lång. Ni som varit på ett Gatebil evenemang vet vad jag pratar om.

Vädret va inte det stabilaste kommer ja ihåg, vi fick uppleva ösregn, hagel men även sol som tur var. Jag själv sprang runt som en galning hela fredagen och lördagen för att få med så mycket som möjligt på film. Och ja ska säga att det är fan inte lätt att täcka hela Mantorp Park helt själv .

Eller ja helt själv va man väl inte helt å hållet. Vi hade 2-3 st totalt under fredag och lördag som hjälpte till att filma med blandat resultat. Min älskade sambo Helena vad även med mig runt på området så mycket hon orkade med.

Mellan filmrundorna så landande man antingen i vårat Superior Camp eller i vårat pressrum för att fylla på batterierna.

Söndagen finns det inte mycket att skriva om. Det blev inte mkt med den dagen då vädret va helt kass, regn regn och åter regn.

Resultatet av allt slit blev en 13minuter lång film full med action.
